How to pick your size

There is no enforced standard for clothing sizes, so the letter on a label only tells you what block that brand drafts to. One shop's medium sits comfortably; another's pulls across the shoulders.

The fix is simple. Lay a garment that already fits you flat, measure it across the chest and from shoulder to hem, and compare those two figures to the table on the product page. It beats guessing from a letter every time.

What linen actually does

Linen creases. That is the fibre behaving normally rather than a fault, and it presses out with a warm iron. It also softens with every wash, which is why a linen shirt is usually better in its second year than its first.

Wash cool and dry flat or on low heat. High heat is what shrinks linen and shortens its life — the care note on each product page says which of ours will take a tumble dryer.
